Annie Jude’s: Supporting small business talent from Sheffield and beyond

A New Path

When Covid hit and we were locked within four walls, many of us began to question our work situation and whether it was time to explore new opportunities. ‘Thinking’ about a change in career and and actually doing it are two very different things but Faith was one of those brave creatives who knew it was time to take the leap.

Whilst experiencing some really challenging times, Faith set up a business on Instagram selling cross stitch sets. Here she met many makers and creators and knew instantly that working for herself was something she too wanted to explore.

“In January 2021 my Mum was diagnosed with incurable pancreatic cancer and died just a few weeks later. Before she passed away she gave me some money and joked I could maybe open a shop selling my cross stitch. I didn’t know it at the time, but that planted the seed. Her unexpected death really changed my perspective and with genuinely very little thought I decided to quit my job and open the shop.”

Supporting The Creatives

Determined to showcase the talent and skills of local makers, Faith opened ‘Annie Jude’s’ in December 2021 and since then she has become an integral part of the thriving Sheffield creative community. As well as championing hundreds of small businesses by selling their unique products, Faith knows the importance of brilliant service; a friendly smile, great product knowledge and a welcoming space for visitors to browse, are all part of the Annie Jude experience.

“I love what I do. I adore my customers and being a part of the creative community – getting to know all the children and dogs that come into the shop. I feel proud to be able to support local charities and having the chance to take risks and make my own decisions is really important to me.”

More Than A Store

Faith works closely with her local suppliers giving Makers and Creators an opportunity to showcase products that wouldn’t be stocked elsewhere. She is always excited to give small businesses the opportunity to promote what they do whilst making sure that each and every product is carefully curated.

As well as selling unique gifts, Faith now has exciting plans for the space, including the use of the venue for creative workshops and events.

“We’ve hosted a hen party where the group made flower crowns with Robyn from Studio Blosm and the catering came from Molly’s Cafe and Deli. I’m hoping I can run more events like baby showers and private parties and I’m brimming with ideas!”

There’s no doubt you’ll always receive the warmest of greetings when you visit Annie Jude’s. Faith knows exactly when people are up for a chat (and when they’d prefer to quietly browse) and makes all visitors feel like friends rather than customers.

“It’s a glorious treasure trove of a shop where you’re guaranteed to find a gift for family, friends, colleagues or yourself. This isn’t your ‘ordinary run of the mill stuff.’ These are products that you can tell the maker has poured their heart and soul into. Faith is also the most wonderful owner – greeted with a smile as soon as you walk in, she’s happy to chat and help you. This shop is an extension of herself and a beautiful homage to her late mum.”
